The thing I dislike the most in building a layout is wiring all of the different buildings. After moving and restarting my layout, I was looking for a simple and easy way to add lights. I did not want to run wires, climb up on the layout or crawl under the table. I started looking for small remote control lights and found these on Amazon. Use Google to search for "remote control tea lights".
Here are the pros/cons of using these particular lights.
PROs:
1. Price - 10 for $20.00
2. Easy to place under a building.
3. Small opening on back to hang the light. (Small wire or a Christmas ornament hook).
4. Easy to turn on - point remote at light & power on. (Easier to turn on than off - see CONs.)
5. Multiple colors to use.
6. Multiple brightness levels.
7. Multiple light programs (fade, flash, etc.).
8. Comes with two remotes.
CONs:
1. Size - 1 3/8" diameter x 3/4" tall. (Not sure if this is an issue.)
2. Hard to turn the lights off. Must be very close to turn off the light.
3. Battery life - rated for 40 hours.
4. Lights are bright and can bleed through corners and bottoms of buildings.
I will continue to add to this topic as I find new positives and/or negatives.
