Hey Guys,

I picked up a used Legacy 990 w 1.4 software installed WITHOUT THE RECHAGEABLE BATTERIES. Picked this up for $100 bucks but haven't been able to put it on the track.   Couple Questions...

1) Where can I get batteries Lionel is out of stock?

2) Is 1.4V the right software? Can I get a new chip from Lionel if needed?

3) Assuming there may be "stuff" stored from previous owner, is there a way to clean this out and start fresh w blank system?

4) I have an older Rock Island legacy diesel I assume install base station to ground on the track and good to go?

5) Sorry no directions or anything can someone give me the 2 dollar version on how to get this up and running, new batteries and how to assign the RI diesel I can't remember how to do it w/out manuals....

6) For under a $100 bucks if there is something terminally wrong if it worth sending it off to get fixed?

Thanks

JB

Just use Akalines.  Turn off the charger (little switch under the base)

1.52 is current.  You'll either have to create the modules using the black available from Lionel or make the blue ones into writables.  Do a search on the forum.

Yes. There is a Clear DATA Base option.

You connect it to the common or outside rail of the track.  You could also attach it to the common of the transformer.  Make sure the power supply that came with it is the correct Lionel one and plugged into a properly grounded outlet.

Download the manuals from Lionel's website for this and more.  It's not complicated but the information can be accessed on Lionel's site.

Lionel tends to fix these for free but having no idea the history they may require a sales slip.

Thanks

JB

JBDB,

Punch up Lionel Legacy Instructional Videos on the Web, the guys do a decent job

of giving instructions on how to get started with Legacy.  Nothing Like Rich would do but then again nothing is quite as good as his instructional DCS.  Wish he would do a Legacy/DCS Combo instructional Video package from the ground up to keep in my library.
