What little people scenes, maybe humorous, have you created to add interest on your layout? Here are four blondes in a Buick, turning around the clichéd construction worker ogling women: Three of the women are waving to the workers, while the fourth (in the pink blouse) is mortified by her car-mates' actions. The Lionel tug-of-war scene has been embedded into the scenery, and spectators added.

I love vignettes, particularly humorous or ironic ones. I have about 15 on my layout with Veranda Turbine in them (red dress, below), married to the richest man in the world. Here she is just walking down the street, and then below that shopping, in the way only she shops.
I also have a bunch of vignettes inspired by Hollywood or TV detective fiction - including scenes that never happened. In the lower left of this photo is Lucas Doolin (Robert Mitchum, Thunder Road) talking with Phillip Marlow (Humphrey Bogart, The Big Sleep).

Take those vignettes and turn them into mini-stories for the magazine's "Rail Tales" section (about 5-7 photos and some brief text) and you can make some $ while you're having fun being creative.
I thought that I would paraphrase Ben J. Tarbutton, president, Sandersville Railroad. “It is true that my locomotive may not be as long as yours, but it, sir, is just as wide.”

What a wonderful subject for a new thread. I love your scenes, both the blondes and the tug of war.

What a great scene and story line. I really enjoyed it. Thank goodness you have a photographic record of your layout that you continue to share with us.

Just started building new layout in new house so only have one right now. Must admit these are fun to create.
Wife went to check map and came back to catch husband checking out an ad. Guess she didn't like his wondering eye.

Guys,
When the bottom dropped out of the housing market in 2007-8, everybody blamed the big banks some of the hobos on my layout were working for the banks. Some were former home owners who had taken 2nd and 3rd mortgages out. Some took their own lives by standing in front of trains, one named 'Banker Jim' is particularly reviled by his fellow hobos and is forced to tag along.....He still receives a regular beating from time to time!

Mike, you'll have to paint some little black eyes on Banker Jim!

The company picnic was well attended, as it always is. A few fellow employees treated all with their rented clown outfits - always a big hit with the kids.
