Though I think that on a train forum, all topic should be about trains, this is a worthy exception.  I truly hope that future massacres can be avioded, especially in elementry schools.  We have to remember that all this shooting took was one crazy person, we need a way to prevent these people from doing harm to themselves, and to others.

My heart goes out to the children, their parents, and the teachers of that conneticut school.  My thanks also goes out to all those who have helped to secure that schoole, and others in the area.  And finally, my thanks to those who did try to stop this massacre, and did before it got worse.

In the Elisabeth Kubler Ross 5 stages of greif,  I am stuck in phase one Denial. I have 3 little ones,  and I would never recover.
Godbless these young girls and boys that their suffering is no more, and may God grant relief for the brothers and sisters, mom's and dad's, and family members, that these little stars have been snatched from us at such an early age. That the surviving family may have peace in their minds and hearts.

A local radio host pretty well summed it up when he said that "once things got started, the only way to have protected those kids would have been to have armed and trained people already there.  You can argue all you want about everything else, but that would have been the only thing that would have been effective enough."  The real solutions to the problems aren't going to be found by arguing politics.  The real solutions are going to come when we start listening to those with real-world experience with security matters.

What makes this incident so Tragic is the combo & timing of events:

  • innocent 1st graders that had NO relation to the shooter
  • school of victims that appears to have NO relation to the shooter
  • an otherwise quiet rural New England town with minimal crime at best
  • the Timing of the event- during the otherwise festive and joyous Christmas/Holiday season
  • The whole event unfolded in 10 minutes tops!

As a father of Twin 3rd Grade girls, I just can't imagine what the affected familes are going through- especially now at this time of year! God bless all victims/families and relatives that are affected during this event. I know I hugged my girls tight this weekend!

Even though I understand perfectly that we an armed person is the only fast, effective, and practical defense against another armed person, I don't think this is an issue we can permanetly solve.  If he couldn't shoot his way in, this guy would have just blown the building up.  We are finding that he was smart, and knew exactly what he was doing.

What gets me though is that this is the worse king of evil.  If you think about it, Bin Ladin was doing what he did for his God, Hitler didn't have to look the Jews being executed in the face like this guy did.  And I can't think of anyone personally executing innocent children.

Crazy doesn't even begin to describe this shooter, he was beyond human, like a machine.  No emotion, no pain, no empathy, nothing.  He simply looked at children, and killed him.  To me, he simply isn't human.

God, lay these innocent souls to rest and protect them for eternity.  And punish this man for his sin, for he has no remorse, no regret.  And send him to____, where he belongs, tis the best fate for him.
