Here's a thread on the LC+ 2.0 coupler design. As you can see, you can take it apart and smooth the internal parts to improve the operation.

Billy and John,
Thanks for the chuff mod. Easy mod which worked great. Much better sound. Might do side rod sub as well. That's for improving wobble going through switches, is that right?
John
The siderods improve the low speed running in general, it removes a lot of slop from the linkage.
Just finished the GRJ half chuff rate. Easy fix with excellent instructions. Thank you @gunrunnerjohn
This is one of the few locomotives that I think 2-chuffs actually sound better than 4-chuffs.
It is a great mod for these locomotives. I run mine at slow to medium speed. It gets a little sound garbled (not sure if that's a word) at higher speeds but it's a yard train right? So it shouldn't go fast anyway.
Brad
Did mine about a month ago. Makes a huge difference.
I'm not usually one for repeating myself but these engines are a steal. They look and run great with a little bit of improvement. I love mine!
The $200 street price of the first run was amazing, I know that couldn't last!

I'm still kicking myself for not picking up the BEDT model when I saw it at Trainland......
