Technically....the H10's are remakes and they're not really even H10's.

They're consolidations masquerading as H9's.

The Hudsons look good. They have only been done once 15 years ago.

Of course......if they come with silver smoke boxes and casting lines..... they won't look so good.

I'm just glad theres not any Berkshires or Mikes. Those have been made to death.

Surprised the #4141 isn't in the new catalog.  On a side note do we really need "fantasy" scheme ES44's?  How about the real ones riding out on the rails today.....like NS#4000, #4001, #4003 etc.  Arcelor Mittal?  Plenty of real ones not made yet.....

Those engines are not ES44's, they are rebuilds from Dash-8 series engines. Totally different look. That being said, Lionel could in theory offer them if they changes a few things on their Dash 9 tooling.

Lionel where they are more concerned with catalog pics leaking online 3 days early than they are about quality control.

I would have thought they would have relished in some positive PR for a change. Personally, seeing the catalog make me more excited about some offerings I did not expect to see. Especially the fantasy UP greyhound scheme.

Then why was my post stating there is no George Bush loco in the new catalog deleted? There were no photos of the lack of a George Bush loco.

I can't really answer that, Matt. Could have been by accident. I deleted a good number of posts that had photos of or from the new catalog, and had to go through 11 pages of the topic, one page and post at a time. It took a long time and I did the best I could.

Picked up the catalog yesterday and must admit a surprise, there's some pretty nice stuff inside.   Love the PRR J3a.  Its a beautiful engine.   I'd buy it in a heartbeat if it included Dynamo steam along with Cylinder steam.     Notice no tubular track & switches cataloged.   Great catalog for the new guy but for me I'll pass, its all repeats.

I'm very impressed with LionChief Plus 2.0 (not so much with the nomenclature) and I'm probably going to get the LC+2 NYC FT AA set and B unit.

The LC+2 Tier 4s were a good idea, but for $400 they ought to come with better looking handrails.

I really like the NYC 1939 Pacemaker J3A Hudson set, but neither my layout nor my wallet can accommodate it.

Do you know if the LC+2.0 will run on AC and DC...  OR just AC?

Thanks

"...the PRR J3a."

This is one of two things: a typo or a great Disturbance in the Force. I pray that it is the former.

My catalog doesn't say anywhere for certain, but I think it's a safe bet that they will run on both AC and DC.

I'm happy to see the return of Building KITS!  Why pay someone in China to do something I mastered when I was 12?!  And mine ALWAYS come out better!  I might be tempted by a LionChief Plus 2.0 (someone in marketing should be shot for that) Berkshire.

To me this catalog more than any other feels like a completely different company from Lionel of old.  I miss certain items that could be depended on to be there year after year.  The licensed stuff smacks of K-Line's lesser items.  The whole thing smells of someone trying too hard.  And while I've usually defended Lionel pricing in the past... well.  $700 for some LIRR passenger cars?  Might as well move to Long Island and buy a monthly commutation ticket for that.

Watching one of the YouTube vids makes me once again grateful to my elderly next door neighbor when I was a kid.  He would quiz me on road names and reporting marks of every railroad he could think of.  And even if he didn't, I'm sure Abbot & Costello or the Three Stooges drilled into me the pronunciation of the Susquehanna Hat Company!

Typo...

Got to look through the catalog at my LHS today.

I like the idea and features of LC+2, especially the added lights, 4 chuffs, and TMCC Cab-1 compatibility. A bit disappointed in the engine selection for the maiden voyage, but I understand it. The Junior Berk is a nice engine (I have two) and leads the money-making Polar Express. The Junior Berk appears to be a closer replica of the real thing than the PW/726 models. As my stable has grown, however, I've simply come to regret owning O27 traditional (Junior) Berks that are smaller than my O27 traditional Pacifics. I like the length and looks of the Rail King Imperial Berks with PS3 for a lower cost better.

I don't have space for a Lionmaster Big Boy.

I'll probably go for the PW/726 model Berk in Lionel Lines when/if it becomes available in LC+2 and retire my conventional WBB.

Every engine on my Want List is in the MTH Rail King Imperial line., and the new catalog hasn't changed that.

Is there not much interest at Lionel for the new catalog?

I have been on a two year hiatus, but I seem to remember that Lionel would promptly post the catalog on the date it was suppose to be available on-line.  Until then, they would have a countdown clock!  This morning I find nothing on their site.
