That looks like the standard SP-type starter-set caboose.

If that's the case, the part number for the end is 600-9060-025, or 9060-25 in the old vernacular.

On this caboose, the roof is one casting, and the sides & floor are a second casting.

I think the 9060 cabooses had the floor as one casting and the sides & roof as a second casting.

The end pieces on the 9060 cabooses actually held the car together. There was a barbed projection at the top, and a couple of slanted projections at the bottom, similar to a postwar porthole caboose end.  (or maybe barbs there too, its been awhile)

The one remaining end doesn't have barbs on the projection at the top, just a lip to lock it in place by the roof. The bottom has flat barbs that slide into the end of the caboose body.
So maybe it would fit.

You're right on all the above, but it's still the same part number.

There are several variations of the end part, but they all fit the same.
