I recently picked up an original postwar used Ballast Tamper that was not fully working. I took it apart to see the larger center nylon gear is worn down in the center and not meshing with the armature shaft. I picked up a new nylon gear but dont see how to replace. If I had to guess I would need to pull the drive wheels to expose the nylon gear shaft and then press/punch that shaft out half way to remove/replace the large nylon gear. Any help/direction is appreciated.
