OK this is a Engine problem not a Legacy problem. When I run it around my layout when it gets to a certain curve the front leading truck comes off track. When I turn the engine around and it runs the opposite way it will do the same thing on another curve. It will go around all the other curves just fine. I have replaced the curves thinking that was it no that did not work. I am running Atlas track and large enough curves. They are 054 curves. Any suggestions?

Is this a new engine? There has been issues with the factory installation of the pilot bearings on some Legacy berkshires.

Some have been installed upside down which makes the axle ride crooked but its not very noticable until you turn the engine over and look closely. I had this with my PM berk, flipped the bearing and never had the problem again.

In this case its a matter of removing the beaering and reinstalling it correctly. They are just plastic and snap into place.

The other issue is a broken bearing altogether that does not stay in the pilot, or may be missing altogether

Lionel parts will probably be your best bet. You'll need the 6-***** number. Lionel has made tons of scale berkshires and I believe that there was a design change on the plastic bearings so you"ll want to look it up under the specific model number.

Enter the  item number in the "text search" box here: https://www.lionelsupport.com/ReplacementParts/

Shipping is a flat $10.00 ,so if theres anything else you might need. It would be  a good idea to order it.

Mine had the same problem.  When i called Lionel, somehow all of these plastic bearings were out of stock (What?)  Curiously, Lionel did have a replacement front truck with the bearings already installed.  I bought it.  I already spent over $1000 on the loco, so what's another $30, right?

Forum posts suggest an epidemic of these bearings breaking during shipment.  I found mine laying in the styrofoam, in pieces, when I unpacked the loco.  And what's with the plastic bearings anyway?  What ever happened to bronze?  Come on, man!!
