Hello

At this time I only have Mth Proto 3 engines in O gauge and have been running them with the DCS commander.  I would like to get a Lionel engine but didn’t want to spend the extra money to also get the Lionel command control system.

I was wondering if it would be possible to just use the Lionel Blue Tooth app and run the engine on the DC power being provided by the DCS commander system.  I read the nice write up on the Blue Tooth misconceptions but was not sure if the Lionel engine would operate on DC power.

I agree with many on here that it would be beneficial to upgrade to the full MTH system at some point but I am a sucker for engines and like the simplicity of the Commander system for the current time.

Thanks for any input or suggestions.

Yes that is the system.  I think if I would have read this forum more thoroughly I would have not gone this route but it seemed that MTH pitched the Commander as a viable method for smaller layouts to get Command control.  I did not realize at that time it was really more oriented to HO and only worked for O gauge because the PS2 and PS3 engines could operate on DC power.

Thanks
