Thought I'd read on here about a possible June release date. Lionel's website alludes to it already being available in the play store and apple store. I'm not seeing it. Wondering if it's actually out(yeah I know it's pointless with no base), or if my phone simply isn't compatible so it's not showing?

Latest word is sometime in August for the BASE3 and the CAB3 will most likely be released with it at that time.
According to Dave Olson, the Cab 3 App was supposed to be released on June 1st but there have been some delays. I check nearly every afternoon.
Yeah last I heard the app is still coming this month, just more like the end of the month. They want the app out now for the bluetooth side and testing, hoping to work out some bugs prior to the Base 3 in Aug.

Since the CAB3 is apparently not useful for anything but the BASE3, what's the point?

The CAB3-L may not be useful without the BASE3 but the CAB3-B functions independently with any Lionel Bluetooth-equipped engine. Plus, unlike the Lionchief app, it can run up to three at one time.

Correct. The Bluetooth portion should work fine as there is no need for a base. Way I look at it, it gets here when it gets here. Dave and company are working hard to make it right!

Well, I'm not really interested in running with my phone anyway, so it's a somewhat moot point for me.

I Feel the same way as John (Gunrunner)

Got it on the Android tablet... works just fine with the 2-truck Shay and the Preamble Express. Since we're down to 2 working Legacy remotes at the Black Diamond, the apps are useful. Will probably keep the Lionchief app on the tablet for awhile. 👍

But you were interested enough to open the thread, read the comments, and add one yourself... hmmmm

Gotta' plan for the future, it may be the only game in town.

I was able to connect nine locomotives at one time, so assume there is no limit? Nice how for each locomotive, the throttle remains at the last set speed step. Only issue I can see is that the crew talk button turns blue and you are unable to use. Believe this issue has already been reported. Overall, a great step beyond the old LC app.
