I have the Century Club NYC F-3 ABA set. I want to replace the battery, but can't find any instructions. Is it in the F-3 unpowered unit and how do I get the shell off? It is TMCC and magna traction. Thank you

You'll only need the battery for shut-down and brief interruptions of the sound.
It can be found in the dummy A unit. Remove the single screw under the nose of the unit, then slide the cab forward on the frame. Be careful as there is an antenna attached by a single wire to the inside of the cab.
While I knew the locomotives to which you were referring, it's best to get into the habit of providing the exact product number when making inquiry such as this.

Consider the once-and-done battery replacement. 
You put this in, and it never goes dead or leaks, you don't have to revisit batteries.
