I recently picked up the Lionel Mint GG1 and Mint porthole caboose that was issued in 70s-80s.My question was this offered as a complete set with several Mint cars or were they all separate sale.I want to put together the complete original Mint train but am not sure what cars went with the GG1 and caboose.Any help or where to look for that info would be greatly appreciated.........

The gg1 and the caboose were separate sale items. There are plenty of mint cars on the market to make up your own mint train.

It has pretty much everything you would ever want to know about Lionel Mint Cars.
If you don't want to go crazy and start collecting them (it is too late for me... 
), I'd suggest going with the main mints - Philadelphia, Denver, San Francisco, and West Point. If you want the train to be a little longer, then I would add a Fort Knox Mint Car (there are several variations to choose from), and if you still want a longer train, then you can start adding the historical, but now defunct, branches of the mint: Carson City, New Orleans, Dahlonega, and Charlotte. If you still want a longer train at that point, then it has become too late for you, as well...
