I have several of the Lionel AMTRAK 19100 series from 1989 that were meant to be operated by the GG1. What I would to do is pull them by the AMTRAK F3 that Lionel made in the 1970s. I think the powered unit only has one motor, but is similar to the 2383 postwar units. Would this unit (run as an AA) pull 5 or more of the passenger cars? I know these have traction tires, so I think they might be able to handle the load.
Otherwise, I will have to find the red nose E8s from MTH.

I should think it could handle 5 cars okay, Maybe you could hunt down a dual motor frame, a motor and a truck and have a twin motor chassis with your shell, just for insurance..

I have the single motor MPC B&O F3 that pulls two dummy units and 6 Williams aluminum passenger cars. There is a little wheel slippage when first starting out, but once she gets moving all is good.
I put a truck from a postwar F3 on my 8652 Santa Fe, to get metal gears and magnatraction, I also added another pick up roller on the truck. It pulls well, but I don't have any passenger cars to pull with it. I pulled 7 scale freight cars and a caboose, that's the limit with one motor.
I have this same setup, the 19100-19105 passenger cars plus 8466/8475/8467 A-B-A F3’s. It was underpowered with only the single motored 8466 F3A, and tended to slip and throw off traction tires a lot. I bought a twin motored F3A chassis with magne-traction to power the 8467, so I am running it with 3 motors total.
Thanks for all the quick information! Glad to see some others are still running the now 40 year old MPC locomotives. I will see about a postwar dual motor chassis to mount the dummy A unit body.
The dual motored chassis does not have to be postwar. MPC made dual motored chassis as well.

6466 can run the two dummies and about 6 of the 2400 type O27 cars from the 1977 Lake Shore Limited set. The Amtrak F's were the first ones built with a non-postwar road name.
I use to buy a second powered unit and run them together. Not really a big problem with them going out of sync. Or just turn the e-units off.
