Norm, just a post to say HI! Its been too many years since we hooked up. From your expert pictures, I can see you are still crazy after all these years! 
I sort of thought you might have converted to 2 rail scale. You CAN use K-Line scale wheels on any square topped rails, such as Atlas, MTH Scale Trax, probably Real Trax, Gar greaves without derailment problems, and it makes for some nice looking scale trucks after the mods. When Dick Maddox was running the show at Atlas, I did a couple of cars and sent them to Dick, to try and convince him and Jim Weaver to make their O scale products with scale wheel sets. If you recall, many of their early advertising reefers came with scale couplers and adjust a coupler (spacing) trucks. Obviously I was not successful in that try.
