That's a feature of all Legacy-equipped engines to make the engines more realistic. In the real world, engine cabs don't have interior lights on for night operations, for obvious reasons. It may be that just the Legacy versions of the RS11 have the cab light to facilitate the Legacy feature, whereas the earlier TMCC versions (like the 18598 NYC) don't have cab lights.
For me, having no light in the cab on the TMCC versions is no big deal, and opening doors is pretty much a useless feature anyway, IMHO. I always cover the interior lights on engines anyway, because they're almost always too bright, and not realistic. Josef, maybe you can console yourself knowing that your engine is more realistic without the cab light!
