My two sons are Eagles and I was a Scoutmaster for many years.    I was buying them the BSA cars and one year they stopped being produced.  They have the Eagle and Life cars.  I asked Mike Reagan about it and he said sales were disappointing and the BSA wasn't the easiest to work with.

 

That being said the car is traditional sized and is what that is.  I personally think every Eagle Scout should have one!

 

I have every BSA item Lionel has released (I think!) and would buy any others they released. 

I'm an Eagle.  Great way for young men to start in life.

I bought the BSA set and additional cars. The Eagle car is nice, you won't be disappointed. 

My dad is a big supporter of Scouting so I bought him an Eagle car also.

I am on a troop committee, former Scout Master, former Boy Scout. My son is an Eagle Scout. I let him choose between the O and the S version. He chose the S version. I wish Lionel had also made the anniversary thrain in S. A scale car would be nice for the BSA Anniversary train

I'm an Eagle Scout and have the BSA 100th anniversary set, the Christmas gondola as well as the Eagle Scout car.  While the 0-8-0 isn't my greatest running engine, I do enjoy putting the whole set on my display shelf to look at occasionally.  Of course it does get run sometimes as well

I'm an Eagle, and currently my son's Cub Master.  I don't own any BSA trains.  Logo stuff like this really isn't my thing, but it sure does look nice.

Went to the National jamboree in 1958 in Valley Forge, Pa. It was great. Our troop 88 did not do all that well but being in a place with so much history was amazing. 

 

All young men should spend time in the BSA and the military, it teaches you how to be a man, it did me.

I couldn't agree more with the last part of your post.

It sure would do some kids a lot of good today.

I was in scouting way back in the last century. My two sons are eagle scouts, and I was a committee member and assistant scoutmaster, and cubmaster, for many years. I have a number of the boy scout boxcars, which I like (Lionel did a good job on them), including the eagle car. I put decals on the side with the names of my two boys, on either side of the eagle badge. 

 

It's also a tribute to my wife. Like many mothers, she used her unique "powers of persuasion" to get those last merit badges earned and push the boys over the top! I should probably put her name on the car as well!  

I am and Eagle Scout with 3 palms Troop 377 and my son is an Eagle Scout as well Troop 61. I was in the scouting program for many years. A great program.

Congratulations to all Eagle Scouts!  I obtained Eagle in 1992.

At the moment, they are readily available.  Don't wait until they are all dried up like I did with one of the BSA 90th anniversary boxcars 10 years later.

I am not into logo cars either, but the BSA is a nice one.

 

My dad would vote for at least on or the other on David's comment.  His statement about the Army was that he is glad he had the experience, but he sure wouldn't want to go back and do it again.  He never was a scout, but he said scouting is what brought me out of my shell and was the best thing for me.  Unfortunately I had Life and was working on Eagle when our scoutmaster retired.  We went through 2 more scoutmasters, and I never got to finish.  It was a great experience however, and I have no regrets.

I am an Eagle Scout ...1984.  Served in various roles as an adult scouter, including the National Jamboree.  I picked up the Boxcar, and also got the 100 year set.  Nice to have.

 

Congrats to all who achieved this distinction.  great program, and clearly an important experience that shaped my life as it has for many others.

I know for a fact that Joe Grzboski of Grzyboski's train shop (a forum sponsor) is a Eagle Scout! I only got as far a First Class.

I am an Eagle Scout.  1992 (i think) as part of troop 161 in Hyde Park, Reading PA

 

My younger brother is an Eagle as well, and my older son is now a bear in Cub Scouts.

 

I do not have any of these cars but I have considered getting the Eagle one, as part of autobiographical train of things I've done and places I've worked for.

My Nephew from Wisconsin got his Eagle Badge a few years back and I gave him the Eagle box car as a gift to commemorate the occasion!!!

I was a Junior Amvet at the Hank Nowak Amvet post in Buffalo NY when I was a kid. However, my three grown boys all made Eagle, so I just bought three of the Eagle Scout box cars to put under the Christmas Tree!!!!

3 Palms!!!   That must have been some merit badge sash.  You and Wyatt have my admiration (along with all the other scouts and scouters.)

I hate to admit it in a train forum but Scouting and backpacking as my two favorites activities.

I'm and Eagle Scout (1975).  My two sons are Eagle Scouts. So there is a Lionel Eagle Scout car in O gauge and one in S Gauge. (for some reason, the college boy thinks that S is the way to go)  I look at it as just More trains to bring home!

My dad bought one of these cars for me about a year ago.  Although all my trains are (sadly) boxed up in my parent's basement, this one sits in its box on a shelf in my room.  It's a very nice car, although I plan on just keeping it as a display piece even when I do (hopefully soon!) get my trains set back up.

I got my Rank of Eagle back in 2002, Troop 47 (Greater Lowell Council now Yankee Clipper Council) and like most boys got it within 18 days of my 18th birthday.  Then I was an Assistant Scout Master for ~7 years.

 

I've spent half my life in Scouting, and hopefully someday my boy will be into scouting as well.

 

 

I don't have the Eagle Car, but I do own the BSA set.  It is a great conversation starter when I run it at shows.

 

I will be picking it up soon though as I don't want to miss out on the car.

Eagle scout 1968. Went to Philmont Scout Ranch this summer ( third time out!). Philmont has found out that they had railroads on the property a long time back. One of the crews had as part of their conservation project to help restore the line and lay some track! Bummer I did not find out about it before I got out there. I would have loved trying my hand at that!
