I just recently purchased an Lionel O guage Southern Pacific SD40 at a local train show. It has two Pullmor Motors and the other basic features. I removed the shell and it was made by Lionel Trains in MT. Clemens, which I believe indicates it is of the MPC era. The unit is numbered 7366 and I have been unable to find any online information on it. It appears to have had a factory paint (SP gray with bloody nose) but the cab numbers and logos look like decals, not stamped. Any one know if Lionel did make this loco available, or is this possibly a custom repaint from an undecorated shell. Any info would be appreciated.

It is part of the Southern Pacific Warhorse set. It is produced by Lionel Trains, Inc. and is part of the LTI era. Product number is 6-18229, the set number is 6-11940.
The engine in set 11940 is numbered "7333" on the cab. There was going to be a matching powered unit (18239) with cab number "7340", but it was canceled.
Both of these items are in the 1998 Heritage catalog.

How about some photo's so we can answer your questions better. Photo's are always an added plus to one's thread.

Thanks for the replies. I will try to post a picture. I may not have been clear, but this loco only has forward-neutral-reverse, forward and rear headlights and an odd sounding horn. No railsounds or anything like that. A pretty basic engine but it looks good.
