Well I actually dug up my old thread but I hadn't posted in so long its locked up.
So - here it goes....
I had an old lionel U36B that like the rest them was something of a light weight and had a noisy e-unit. I've wanted to do something better with for quite a while so it didn't just languish in the box. I looked at several different method to upgrade to dual motors and finally settled on a repowering it lock stock and barrel with a WBB gp9 I got during the blow-outs about a year ago.
The initial problem was that the narrow portion of the long hood was hitting the flywheel of the rear motor. This problem was resolved with a few careful minutes on the dremel tool. Now since the WBB donor was in full working order there is only one problem left to resolve, and that is the handrails. As you can see the just don't line up.
So gurus of the forum - please avail me with your suggestions, experience, notions, or just of the wall ideas on how to re-arrange said handrails with distorting or totally destroying the wbb donor frame.
I look forward to your thoughts..
