I have a K Line NYC operating milk car with the 6 silver cans. Unit operates as intended - cans are ejected upright and the RC does it job as it should.
However, I am looking to buy additional cans - can I use the white cans produced by Lionel or must I look for the silver K Line cans.
Any one have experience using the white Lionel milk cans in the K Line unit.

I cant say if they interchange, I don't have a K-line, but I've seen different versions of Lionel cans over the years.

Unpainted with a magnet
and white, with two kinds of paint, but I don't know if they had a magnet.
When I was a boy, the paint on both the white caused the cans to hang up in the Lionel ramps more than the silver.
So I traded off the white ones to my cousin.
And he never brought his half of the trade back... 
The soft paint may have been done by shop owners. Poor rolling.
The hard paint rolled better, but chipped easy, leaving tiny paint chips around the milkman's feet.
