Yes.  It is 6-18034.

Have you tried hitting the cover with coolant spray?  Sometimes that will move things enough to break it free.  Heat is good as well at times.

I will try to find some coolant spray.  Is this something you would find at an auto parts store or at Lowe's?

I buy my coolant spray on-line.  Here's one source at Edmund Scientific

I figured the diagrams would be useful.  If you have an actual Lionel number, search on their site, you'll find a lot of useful stuff, just well hidden at times.

I have just placed my order with Edmund.  In a week or so, I will try again.

I guess that loco is "really cool" now!

Glad it all worked out.  I use heat and cool at times to free really stuck screws and bolts when other methods aren't working.
