Bobby, double check your topic title. That link is to the East Side Access Project which will bring Long Island commuter trains to Grand Central on a newly created lower level. Another cool rail project to be sure, but not the Second Avenue subway.

Now your on the right track! Second avenue subway info is kind of hard to come by, and the project is very slow. I'm not sure if they even have a firm phase I opening date.
There was an episode of Build It Bigger that had segments on both projects. In one scene there was this crazy mucking machine that was able to work on any incline. Photo 14 was the spot featured, as they were digging out that escalator shaft.

It's a government job and some politicians have had their hands in the cookie jar. US taxpayers have been taken again.
Yup two foreign contractors who are suing each other and being sued by the feds!
