I have a set of NWSL S-2 wheel sets on the way. I wanted to see some of the ways people have added power wipers or pickups. My goal is to leave the TMCC electronics inside and run 2 rail TMCC. So I just need to get the power from one side to where the center rollers used to screw in. Shouldn't be that difficult I wouldn't think.
I know there have been more than a few of these converted. Any photos of the power pickups would be appreciated.

I thought Brother Love did a 2-rail conversion on one of these a while back. Maybe do a search or hit him up? I did a quick search and he has responded to a bunch of posts about the Lionel model.

Can't help you with your specific question, but I have a Lionel S-2 in B&O colors that is disassembled and was being prepped for a repaint when I lost interest in 3 rail. I can sell it to you cheap for a learner project if'n you're interested.

I used PB wire and wired my wiper much like David's. Mine contacted the back of the wheels. This is a pic of the unit.
