Down at York I got an awesome set of 2023 Postwar Union Pacific Alco AA's. Obviously, Lionel never made a matching B-Unit, however, I got the crazy idea to have someone like Len Carparelli custom paint a matching B-Unit.

Does anyone know if Lionel ever made a Alco B-Unit with die-cast trucks that would match the bases to the 2023 Alco's? The only B-Units I have seen so far seem to have taller trucks than 2023 issue.

Thanks!

You probably know all this:

Don't know how brand-loyal you are, but K-Line made an 027 FA2 B unit (based on Kusan tooling, which was a bit of a clone of the Lionel product); no die-cast there, but they look nice. I did a NYC paint job on one once, on a whim. Lighter than the Lionel; weight fits easily. Heck, an old Kusan would do, too. (Were there Kusan FA2 B's?)

Williams 027 FA2's are very similar to Lionel's in weight and "die-cast-ness"; haven't they made a "B" for those?

Kusan didn't make FA2 B-units.  But, K-line did.
