Like the post says, anyone (dealer, service center, etc) want to make millions or realistically some good money, set up a table for fixing/servicing smoke units. We can debate the logistics of such a service being offered at York but if it could be accomplished, by the number of sad train enthusiasts on this forum recently, I believe it would be a winner.

Throw in traction tire replacement and let's get crazy... Kadee coupler installation and bingo ol' Jed's a millionaire!

Even if just one of these services were offered I believe it could be way profitable.

Any other services you would like to see?

Well, if we're suggesting 'scooter repair', how about 'servicing' crop-dusters?

Seriously, however, to those who can't fathom this idea of a convention repair biz, consider Tony's Train Exchange business at the Amherst Show(Springfield, MA) in January...he installs DCC decoders for the 2-rail crowd.  It's been a few years since I was last there, but it was an impressive operation when I last saw it!  I'm assuming he yet provides this show service?  Very handy for those who come prepared to take advantage.  I mean, there would have to be some limits to what could be done in a couple days, of course, but with some advertising you could probably keep quite busy!  Light bulbs, traction tires, lube job, coupler repairs, roller replacement, wheel-cleaning, etc., etc..  Hey, why not?

Good thread!  Good idea!  Will be interesting to see if anything comes of it!
