Marx Passenger Car Window Strips

I gave up trying to affix the new window strips to the inside of the car using the bended metal tabs. It was too difficult to cut the mating slots in the new window strip. So, I broke the tabs off, filed the nubs smooth, and taped the new window strips in place using a heavy gauge clear vinyl packing tape.

It looks like your solution worked out great.

Looks sharp...I never realized/noticed that the Marx inserts were printed in color.

simple  idea. Simple solutions.

Nicely done and clever work around.  Thanks for sharing.  Someone once told me that the images on these Marx colored window inserts were noted Hollywood and other personalities of the times.  No idea how valid that is.

That is fun to think about. Maybe I should post this to some sort of classic movie forum - maybe they might be able to ID some of the people. Who knows - maybe Moe Larry and Curley are riding in that Marx car - getting ready to poke each other in the eyes or maybe to start a pie fight in a nearby dining car.

Or, quite possibly, it’s Groucho, Chico, Harpo, Gummo & Zeppo. They were, after all, the Marx brothers.

What are you using to get that soft focus/slightly jiggly background?…is it a semi transparent plastic sheet?…I really like the photographic effect it generates…

I used Photoshop to blur the background. I used the polygonal lasso tool to pick out the area I wanted blurred, then I copied that to a new layer. I then filtered this layer with a distortion pattern called "Ocean Ripple". Afterwards I flattened the image and saved it as a jpg file.

The repro window strip images are grainier than the original strips, but otherwise they look pretty nice when they are installed.

Thanks for the prompt reply…but you lost this old techno dinosaur at Photoshop…regardless, the effect is tops!…
