I just took one of these out of a m10005.  After a little oil it runs fine back and forth.  Only issue is the governor is broken/missing so it flies off the track.  I will probably never use this engine.  Is it worth even trying to sell?  Jeff

It's a bit difficult to put a value on it... on one hand, Marx reversible windup motors aren't nearly as common as the normal forward-only ratchet motors; on the other hand, it will need a repair that most people aren't equipped to make.  I do try to keep an eye on the 'Bay for various windup pieces, and I don't recall seeing a reversing motor (by itself) sell recently.  Also, what condition is it in?  Are the motor's sideplates rusty or clean?  Are the sideplates tin plated or black?  I'm assuming since it came from a M10005 it has stamped steel 7 spoke wheels... are any of them loose on the axles?

My biased opinion is that it is worth selling... someone out there needs or wants a Marx reversing motor.  You know how the auction site goes... one day it might sell for $10, the next it might sell for $40.  Or, list it here for $25 and see if you get any takers or counter-offers.

I know it can be repaired... I had the exact same problem with a Marx windup reversing CV...
