Here it is guys, our caboose that we were waiting for. As you can see, the guns do come off, but leave little holes in it's place. All in All, another great product from our friends at Menards..

I'm thinking about taking the sound board and LEDs from a spare Menards tank I have laying around here and mounting it the caboose to give it a little more action. Lol

I did something similar to this, but i didn't use a caboose, and I thought it turned out pretty cool. You can check it out in this thread
The guns look ridiculous - better if taken off. Put them on a half track or a Viet Nam "Dragon Wagon".
Please tell me the interior illuminated via LED is near 3000K and not 5000k...
Excellent pictures. I Just ordered one.

Yes they do, and therein lies the beauty for all of us who love this kind of thing. As a young one in the 60's, we used to add GI Joe guns and anything else we could imagine to our Lionel cars.
It was all part of creating our own little world. No one cared if it was feasible in the "real world."
Menard's has found that niche of operators, like me, who do like scale stuff but are also firmly rooted in the classic, imagination needing/having toy train world. They have brought this segment back.
As I've said before, time to add this caboose to the end of my consist of Cab Forward Daylight, Phantom II pax cars, and the bobbing giraffe car. What better way to bring up the rear? I'd run that with my Phantom Loco, but it's busy hauling my dad's original aluminum President pax cars (early 60's) around the loop, flickering interior bulbs included
Thanks for posting Bob. Looks way better without the guns! Those will be coming off after I open the box but other than that it will look good with the rest of the cars.
Ordered mine yesterday but I have to agree the caboose looks better without the guns
What was the source/origin of this caboose...it looks a little like one of the K-line versions. I assume other configurations and road names will follow
It's a close version of a Lionel caboose and has also been made in CNW and BNSF roadnames. Bob did a comparison post a while back:
Kids will like it.
He$$, I like guns need a couple of them puppies on my train.
Must protect them Marines with all available means. lol
