I would love it if someone would take a picture of this next to a known/popular 1/43 scale vehicle so we could see a size comparison!
Are you serious Dan? The Menards truck is a fine representative of the real one. The issues you stated are fixable if the owner wishes.
As stated above you can't compare it to a $100 plus model.
I can't buy expensive models and Menards has filled the bill in diecast and freight cars and buildings.
There is no reason to run down a product that others may like, if you don't like it don't buy one, that is a simple solution.
According to the Durham Classics website, the retail is $180.00 - $200.00!

Just like Menards rolling stock some people compare and nit pick historical accuracy or it doesn't have this or that bla, bla, bla Everyone wants high quality but doesn't want to pay the price. Not everyone has endless resources to spend on top of the line toys. That's why in my opinion Menards has done well filling a market that is reasonably priced and decent quality.
Don't buy a smart car and expect to get a Cadillac! It is what it is!
Broke down and just placed my order for one, could not resist
Truck came today and totally impressed. Glad that I ordered one
Rattler21, I already have mine on the layout, but I have a few vehicles close to it that are 1:43. You would have to scrutinize it pretty hard to notice a big difference.

It looks good there Rick! I agree, I just place vehicles that look good together and don't worry too much about it. I like your layout too!
rattler21 posted:Please, please, please someone post a couple of photos of this 1:48 truck alongside either a Hallmark 1:48 pickup truck (1st attached picture) or a Road Champs 1:43 pickup truck (2nd attached picture).
This is a Matchbox 1/43 pick up next to it and the only Hallmark truck I had handy. The Hallmark definitely looks smaller next to the Menards truck and it's a fire engine!

Thanks Chris.
Don't let the size of the hallmark firetruck bother anyone. I actually owned two American Lafrance 700 series pumpers, they were small. Only two people could sit in the front seat.
I own an American LaFrance ladder truck. Mine stands quite a bit taller than my Dodge W250, and it's quite a bit wider, too.
Measure the diameter of the 20" tires on that model. I'll bet that the model is more like 1/64. Compare the 20" wheels with the (probably) 15" wheels on the adjacent PU truck.
My 400 series was larger then my 700's. I'm sure it is smaller than 1:50- hard to tell. Not something I would lose sleep over. I had a 400 TDA, two 700 pumpers, a 500 pumper, and all that I have left is my 1924 type 38. Lots or red paint in the shop at one time.
Too many people picking nits for my taste. If you don't like don't buy it, that simple. I bought a couple and like them.
Can you but these at a Menards Store or on line only?
On line for now. They may show up at the store when they put out the Christmas items
Love it just the way it is and ordered one.

Picked mine up at the store today. Looks Great!

Doug I agree 100%. What's the big deal with size? I can sit on my front porch and see little 4 door cars & big 4 door cars, little 2 doors & big 2 doors, small SUV's & big SUV's and ..............well you get the point. I put 1:43, 1:48 & 1:50 on my layout and it looks quite natural - just like sitting on my porch. If you like it buy it. If you don't like put your wallet back in your pocket.
Size doesn't bother me. So long as something doesn't look ridiculously obvious close enough is close enough!
There is one for sale for 40 bucks + at least another 12 to ship to West Australia on the bay. Roo.
