This is the Main Street Station in Richmond, VA. It was built in 1901as a combined effort of the Chesapeake & Ohio and the Seaboard Air Line.
The red stone and terra cotta roof definitely make the building unique. Its ornate decoration no doubt wowed the Victorian audiences of the day too.
Light coverings on the stairway walls.
My group waiting for Amtrak's arrival. To photograph, not to ride.
About 40 minutes, late, but here she is. Then it was on to the next stop. The "triple crossing."
About three blocks away from the Main St. Station is the area where railroads cross one another. This top photo shows Southern Railway rails under the Seaboard viaduct.
Atop those two is the former C&O viaduct.
And atop them all is Interstate 95. weaving along the buildings in town.
More photos of my journey to Virginia will come up in the coming weeks, but now it is your turn to add to the thread. Thank you to all for your participation the past several months.
