I am back! Welcome (back) to Midweek Photos. At least for now, my computer dilemma is corrected, and I have a few new pics to share. Thank you to any one who has shared photos in my absence over the last month or so.
This is a compilation of the mid April photos I took at Steamtown National Historic Site in Scranton, PA. Above is the first day returning to the roundhouse for Baldwin Locomotive Works 0-6-0 no. 26. She had a clean bill of health after the annual inspection.
Next is her first day in steam, April 11, to check out tolerances on her new or repaired bearings.
April 20, National Park Week begins with no. 26 under steam to begin operating passenger trains in the Scranton railroad yard.
Rolling out on the turntable in a bit of rain.
The Scranton Limited, a 3- mile round trip through the railroad yard, is this steam engine's main stomping grounds. We see her passing the rather newly opened Renaissance Park, which was at one time part of the passenger mainline.
These views are from the Mattes Street tower, which is part of the Steamtown NHS property.
Off they go. Now, it is your turn to post photos of steam, diesel or electric trains in action. I hope you have caught some good ones. Perhaps a Big Boy steam engine on the move? It is all good, and we are happy that you share what you do. Enjoy!
