Welcome back to another issue of Midweek Photos. I hope everyone had a good weekend. While we are preparing for the upcoming one, here are some shots I was able to gather over the last few days.
There was talk of the Lackawanna F3s making a run to Moscow on Friday of last week, August 4. Here, we see 663 revving up, and it was attached to 664, plus 4 passenger cars. To the right is Baldwin Locomotive Works shop switcher no. 26. She would be running 4 trips through the yard that day.
I went for a walk to a location where I could get a unique angle on the F3 train. Along the way, I encountered 44-tonner no 105, from the New York, Ontario & Western. Most of the graffiti this engine acquired over the years of display in southern New Jersey is cleaned up.
Waiting for the train, I took advantage of the Baldwin steamer rolling past the former locomotive shop complex and station of the Delaware Lackawanna & Western Railroad's Scranton yard. I never caught the diesel trip. Complications brought delays. The 10:00 AM departure took place closer to 2:00, and the two units did not MU together very well. Another attempt will be made this Saturday.
The next day finds a Steamtown excursion ready for departure to Moscow. On the left is the Electric City Trolley Station & Museum car about to head to Moosic, PA.
Here is the train arriving in Moscow. Many people rode the train to attend a fair in town, and some took the chance to admire the train at the station.
When the fair ended, it was time to get everyone back on board for a return to Scranton, PA.
The Moscow Country Fair is so close to the tracks, but not in a good location to show how the rail line and fair interact.
Engine 2457 is a C425 built in 1964 for the Spokane Portland & Seattle Railroad.
Back in Scranton. Now I turn the thread over to you. As always, we thank those of you who have contributed over the years. No matter how often or rarely your pictures show up, it gives us an idea of what you encounter in the real world of railroading. See you next week.
