Back in May, I had the chance to visit one of the oldest theme parks in America... Knott's Berry Farm in Buena Park, CA.
It is home to an authentic 3-foot gauge steam locomotive. Rio Grande Southern 2-8-0 no. 41. The cowboys close off the walkway several times a day to let her pass the tourist while she leaves the depot.
The gold mining ghost town theme is used throughout the park, even among the high speed thrill rides.
Neat old cars on the train include this caboose, and a cattle car converted to passenger use.
The station is authentic, too.
As if the real train experience wasn't enough, they also operate this amusement park style train built by Crown Amusements
