Well, I finally purchased a K-Line PRR GG1 and now I'm looking for a set of passenger cars for it.  So far I'm not finding what IO want which is some passenger cars with furnished interiors.  I'm looking for either 15" modernism cars or a set of 15" heavyweights but preferably with furnished interiors.  I can't find a se with furnished interiors but I have found something like this

Do any of you aficionados know if these cars can be modified to a furnished interior?  Do you scratch build something like that or are there kits to do the job?

Thanks.

K-Line and MTH have made 15" cars with interiors and figures. You could modify the ones you linked to but it would be either expensive or very time consuming to do it depending on if you bought interiors and figures or fabricated your own interiors. I would suggest being patient and checking all the auction sites or post in the Wanted to Buy forum what you are looking for.

O scale passenger car conversions are potentially a very time consuming as well as expensive project; I speak from experience sourcing the parts and assembling them.

One problem is that the interiors of K-Line, Lionel and MTH cars are not true O scale but more like S scale. That means that even if you can source basic interior parts like seats and passengers they need to be sub-O scale.

But if you want to investigate for yourself a couple of pointers. Keil Line (now Scale City Designs) made lots of heavyweight car detailing parts, including interior seating and other fittings. They are made of cast metal and Scale City carry most of them. There are quite a few more S scale suppliers of passenger car interiors so look around online to see what's available and at what cost.

Frankly, unless you really want a long project I'd sit tight for a while and see if any MTH cars come up.
