Modifying horn to a locomotive

Howdy, y'all.

I'm thinking of buying a (Traditional) steam locomotive in order to customize it, and one of the odd changes I'd like to try is changing the sound effect of its whistle to one that sounds like a Diesel air horn. Could this be done to a steam locomotive made in 2004, or one of the MPC era locomotives?

Well, ERR has the Daylight sound board that has the traditional whistle and also a horn, that would be the easy way. I also think I have a daylight Railsounds 4 board that would drop into a 2004 Lionel TMCC steamer.
