After the Monon was acquired by the Louisville and Nashville railroad, all of the Monon's C420's were repainted in the L&N Grey scheme. Looking at prototype photographs, they were not all painted at once, so there was some variation in their paint scheme, and some were MU'd with C420's still in their Monon paint. This engine, L&N #1330, was formally Monon #513, and it soldiered on with the L&N in their Grey and Yellow scheme. I particularly like the block letters used for 1330 - not all units had that; and the complete covering of the front hood in yellow - not all L&N C420's had that.

There are several versions of the Delaware and Hudson C420s in the Lionel 2019 Volume 1 Catalog, but this "blue-dipped" version is my favorite, so we just had to add it to our custom run list. I understand that this is a former Lehigh Valley unit that served initially on the D&H in its LV yellow jacket paint scheme and was then repainted in the D&H Blue Dip scheme. In my opinion, it would be appropriate to run this engine MU'd with its sister LV C420 engines.
