MTH folks said the 44 tonners should be in the next catalog, any news? Any Leaks? Any tidbits at all?

I hope so, but would have expected it to be on the catalog cover. While I did order a Williams by Bachmann, I'd be in for the MTH model as well.

Ordered the Williams. Will order the MTH when it's announced.
Does anyone know if the MTH 44 ton version will be produced? I plan to wait for the MTH version to check the detailing and selling price before buying the Williams version. I would expect that it would part of the RailKing line.
MTH could also just take a Proto 3 board and drive and use it with the new 44 ton Bachmann shell and save all the production costs of a new body casting.
Are both of these SCALE sized?

Matt, I will see you in a few weeks, let the boys know I am coming west. David and Jeff wanted to know when.

Looks like someone knows something and he ain't telling.

I'll be patient, because I epxect I will have to. I expect three years until I have one, at least. In the mean time WBB will have to do. If they can put basic sound, etc., in one, that might be all I need, too.
There is the Rich Yoder offering from several years ago. Runs well and with a shoe horn could be upgraded to TMCC and Sound. Click lower left triangle.
In April I bet $10 the Royals would win the World Series at the Mirage Sports book at 30-1. I also bet $2 that MTH would produce the 44 tonner at 3-1. One of the bets will come in.

Direct quote from MTH is that there will be a 44 tonner in the new catalog. In the meantime, here is my Rich Yoder with a PS3 board installed.

Never thought they would make it, I can see the headlines now...'Royals win 2014 World Series'
@Dave
how many cars can it handle?
Ralph,
2-4 cars. 5 empty ore jennys. There are no traction tires and it is pretty light. I don't imagine the real ones pulled may cars.

I have heard--second hand and not verified--that we will not see the WBB 44-tonners until 2015.

You did a great job, Dave.
By the way, I could see MTH doing a 44-tonner. It isn't much smaller than the AGEIR Box cab. The trick is fitting a motor under the very narrow hood. The Box cab had a single motor on one truck so there'd be room for the electronics. The smaller Proto-3 electronics would probably fit using this kind of configuration. A diecast shell would add enough weight for traction.
I will order both of the Williams and MTH models. David your Yoder looks and sounds great.

They already are flying. Maxwell on the plane, using his Geico app and the flight attendants getting after him to turn off his word game. I think one of the attendants said the same thing about pigs flying. And after all, ratpak did say ONE of his bets would come in, surely it can't be the 44 tonner?
Edit: First it's the Royals, if that wasn't bad enough for you, now what has happened to the Chiefs? Could the Super Bowl be next?
While I certainly hope to see a newly tooled 44 tonner from MTH, Personally I would only be interested if it was a Premier model with scale wheels. I have this gut feeling that it will be a RailKing scale model though. The last newly tooled switcher they made was a RailKing scale MP15AC back in 2008 I'm pretty sure.
@ Dave Very nice! Which PS3 sound file did you use?
I DO need a Pennsy 44 Tonner for the Sandusky line, well actually, Columbus. The Penn was a master of GS4s...in Pennsy speak, and until recently you could find the 9331 at Strasburg.

Paul,
It is an RS3 I also like the S2 soundfile.
I think I could have easily fit a PS2 board in this engine.

are there any photos of the Williams 44 tonner???

Only the pre-production sample:

The MTH Facebook Page now has a picture of their Die-cast 44-TONNER, so their Tooling must be already made.

MTH has responded that the Model displayed is a 3-D Printer Sample..
MTH is apparently starting to use 3-D Printed Samples in their Pre-production Catalog Photos.
I think many are going to be surprised how small the 44 toners are ( they shouldn't be surprised though, these are scale)
the WBB ones are quite hefty and have fixed pilots, not sure about the MTH ones.
Be be really interested in seeing how the handle yard switches
The sample at the MTH York booth really looked sharp. It is small, it will be a great addition for the folks wanting a switcher and have a small switch yard. I really didn't care for the first 6 road names but may pull the trigger on the AT&SF.
I am waiting patiently for the Boston and Maine versions. I am sure that the 44 tonnere will be a winner for MTH. Nearly every railroad had these. They can run these for years to come with no repeats in road names.
