MTH 999 with Ps 3.0

I really like the looks of this locomotive (MTH #20-3385-1). Is this the only O scale Ps 3.0 locomotive?

The few stores that have one are selling the loco for more than list price--and it seems that at least one evilbay seller is hoping that someone will pay the new model full retail ($699.99) for an older, Ps 2.0 version.

Any forum members own this loco? How does it perform in the real world?

Thanks for your kind offer, but I want the newest run--as Chuck mentioned, the tender is smaller on the new run, and no battery is needed. I also like the fact that the tether wire is gone from the new run.

I just don't intend to pay above MSRP for it...even if it means missing out on owning one.
