Anybody use the more modern built HO trains like MTH, BLI. the ones that come with sound, smoke, etc.
"HONGZ" stands for HO scale, N scale, G scale, and Z scale.
Post your non-O scale stuff here!

I have a BLI Santa Fe Northern #3751. GREAT Sounds. NO smoke.
MTH GS4 and Cab forward + BLI Niagara. All smoke, have sound and run great.
I have the Erie triplex from MTH and from BLI I have the mikado, T1, H10 and from bachmann 2-6-0 Mogul w/ sound.
They all run great and the triplex runs on 19" radius. Same sounds as the O gauge model. But no smoke from the rear stack.
Yup, into BLI big time. I have something like 8 of their NW/SW Paragon2 switchers in various roads for my upcoming KC Lines layout... and still looking to get more. BLI switchers sound good and run super. Very good product.
Here's a group pic of my motive power for the upcoming KC Lines layout (not all units on hand are in this picture). You'll see several BLI products sprinkled in among...

Can you run the MTH HO DCS trains on a DCC layout? I have absolutely no clue when it comes to HO trains. My son won an MTH DCS set. I was curious if I could take it to the local club and run it on their DCC layout. I'm guess with the proprietary setup of the DCS system it is not possible.
A number of years ago BLI was blowing out locos at great prices. I got a GS-4, a few big PRR locos (T1) and others. Most have sound but I do not have the controller to use all the options. Nice locos.....never paid full price!!
From my understanding, yes. You can run MTH HO locos under their DCS system and the DCC system.
And conventional too.....

Excellent, thanks!
At first, I was not in the MTH camp because of my misunderstanding of DCS as well as the electro coupler boxing glove thing. However, I have since learned:
* DCS will do DCC.
* The coupler box will take Kadee's.
Soooo....
I wouldn't mind having an MTH UP FA1 (and FB1?) for the KC Lines. Maybe one of these days.
As for BLI, check out this video of their Light Mike. Very good slow speed capabilities exhibited at the 1:13 mark...
A very nice feature of MTH running on DCC is that if you use 128 step control then each step is one scale mile per hour increments.

When I was deeply involved in HO, I did a lot of kitbashing. I took a BLI 2-8-2 and did a heavy mod adding an Elesco Feed Water Heater along with additional brass fitting and a new brass oil bunker to the tender. The model took first place in a contest.
I also kitbashed 2 Proto2000 2-10-2's, one with a Worthington FWH the other with an Elesco FWH.
I loved the sound these produced, and expect to see these running again on a club layout.
Here are some photos of the mod along with a video.
Hope you enjoy it.
