I recently purchased an MTH DCS system to run proto sound 2 and 3 engines. I have it set up but every time I turn the power on I get a dead short. The set up is as follows power from Z750 using TIU Barrel Jack Adapter Cable to Fixed Input 1 and power out from fixed output 1 to track 1 lead to center rail and 1 lead to out side rail. Any thoughts or suggestions?? Any Help is greatly appreciated.

if you disconnect your track connection does the short go away?
the red lead on tiu output is always the center rail, and the black lead is always your outside rails!
Yes I did and yes it seemed the unit remained on, however i am going to try it again shortly.
Question #1, are you using just the brick on the Z750?
Remove the TIU from the circuit and power the track with just the Z750. If you still have a short, the problem isn't in the TIU.
Is this a new, or used TIU? Assuming test one doesn't result in a dead short, try moving to another channel on the TIU. It isn't beyond reason that there may be an issue with the TIU.
By "dead short", I'm assuming this results in the breaker on the Z750 tripping.
sounds like there is a engine off he track or you have a track short, take all the cars and engine and tender etc off the track and then power on! did short clear ?you know you could have a bad engine?
Thanks guys..... problem solved.... there was short on track .. it’s really great to know that there’s someone out there who can lend a hand when needed. On to the installation of the DCS.... Here’s hoping.....
