I asked about the 4-8-4 the other day, now I have learned of the set with passenger cars. Seems too good to be true, price wise. Is the engine the same Proto 3, from the 2013 catalog? I want to make sure I am getting the latest version, with all the detail, and better sound.

Thanks!!

MTH has been hitting some home runs lately with its steam locos.  The detail and finish is incredible.  The sound and the slow speed control still aren't quite as good as Legacy, in my opinion, but the difference is so tiny and unimportant given the quality of the modeling, etc. . . ., - and the price of loco or sets.

And the marginal cost of buying the set with its cars over the loco is so low you wonder how they can do it.  I bought the recent ATSF 3460 Hudson with the Army hospital train set and the cars cost something like $110 more than the loco alone.  They are worth at least twice that - it would be impossible to buy them new at anywhere near that price.

I'd go for it quickly - before its gone.

OK Thanks Lee. It sounds like it is the same engine, quality wise and all, so it looks like I should go for the cars too. Perhaps this is a limited time offer too.

Heading home today from my vacation.

Thanks all.

I went back to the hobby shop, they did have a set, not opened from a shipment, looked at it and got it. I hope to get it on the layout yet today.

Thanks for your comments.

Yes, someone out there better grab it and quick. I paid full list price! Because I wouldn't have to pay for shipping. Your deal would have been sealed, if I had not bought already. Good luck!!
