Mth K-4s ps1 problems

I recently bought a beautiful mth premiere K-4 with PS1 from a forum member, needless to say I love the locomotive. It ran great and sounded amazing. But in only a few hours it stopped with the sound and would not move in forward or reverse. I know the 9v battery in those trains were not so good but this one has a 9vBRC from Dallee electronics. Can anyone give me insight as to what might have happened or what it might cost to fix? I attached an imagine of the tender with the battery in it.
