MTH NYC Subway Set

I have one of the original MTH proto 1 subway sets. I finally decided to give them a run. I had recieved heat shields from MTH because the roofs/lights were getting hot. Does anyone remember how these got installed. I think they sent 10....Yes, they've been sitting in the box a long time....
