I just recently bought an mth Premier Big Boy. I am running it on O-72 curves but when it tries to navigate the curves the front articulated drive wheels bind up. Upon further investigation, the front articulated drive wheels do not extend the whole way through the curves. There appears to be just enough sag in the front of the engine for the articulating rods to brush up against the front drive wheels. Has anyone heard of or encountered this problem? I looked on the Internet and couldn't turn up any information. Thanks for your help.

I've never had that problem & have owned mine for a couple of years. I will tell you to be aware of 1 problem with them and that is the driving rod nuts coming loose. Make sure you tighten them.
MVD917; check out this link.
Maybe someone has taken this apart?
Are the front drivers boiler tubes causing the front drivers to bind? Maybe something else is not put together right?
Picture or two? G
Is the track properly level in and near the curve; is there a grade involved? A long engine means lots of vertical displacement when the track is going up and down; this can cause things to touch which were not expected to.

I hope so, that was eight years ago!

I have an old premier big boy that has a similar issue. I went to the end of the Internet looking for someone who might have the same problem. Lol!

So I actually did resolve this! I brought it to my local MTH dealer and had it fixed under warranty. I don't remember exactly what the issue was but it had something to do with the orientation of the drive rods. They were either installed upside down or flipped from left to right. One of those two.

Man! That’s great news! I knew it was a long shot! Thanks so much!
