The the hobby I work in, static plastic models, production numbers are almost never released. A few 'Limited Editions' are listed as '1 of 3000' but regular production kits are not. Besides today most hobby items are made in batches and may be run a number of times....so a 'total' is a moving target. Also we, like the model train manufactures, have been known to fine tune issues or details so although it's not a new model or even catalog number it is a little different.....new model??

So what Allan said will have to suffice.....

I'd love to know the production numbers but I can see it causing ill-will in the hobby. For instance, if something is produced in low numbers, demand will probably cause the value to go over msrp. If MTH decides to rerun the item then the holders if the original run will be upset. Also, it's obvious that MTH will reproduce any particular item several catalogs later. I don't think they feel they are in the collectibles business.
