How can you determine if an MTH PS/2 locomotive has the "4 chuffs" feature? Do all MTH PS/2 locomotives have this feature?

All MTH PS2 and PS3 engines have the ability to set the chuff rate from 1 chuff per revolution to 32. However, you need to be using DCS to set the chuff rate.
Under DCS, first select the engine so that it displays in the remote's LCD window. Then, press:MENU/Sound/Chuff Rate, and select the chuff rate with a soft key. Last, press the thumbwheel and ENG to return to the Engine screen.
Also, set ProtoChuff to AUTO by pressing: MENU/Sound/ProtoChuff, and press the AUTO soft key. Last, press the thumbwheel and ENG to return to the Engine screen.
For conventional operation, I don't recall if the engines come from the Factory with a ChuffRate of 2 or 4 as the default.
This and a whole lot more is all in MTH’s “The DCS O Gauge Companion 2nd Edition", available for purchase as an eBook or a printed book at MTH's web store!
I believe all ps2 have selectable chuff rates. If you have DCS? select engine~select sound~ then scroll to chuff rate and select~ then scroll to the number of chuffs you want.
sure hope I said that right
Clem
If you are using DCS you can go into the settings on some engines and change the chuff rate.
Clem,
then scroll to the number of chuffs you want.
You would select a soft key.
Thank you Barry, We must have been typing at the same time.
Thanks to everyone. I did go to my DCS controller and found the chuff rate setting.
Barry one question, 32 or 16?
Ron,
Barry one question, 32 or 16?
I was going from memory. It might well be 16, rather than 32.

That is the one feature I would really love to have access to in conventional mode. Was hoping that the DCS Commander console would do it but learned the hard way that this unit does very little compared to full DCS.

I know Barry will correct me if I am wrong. Scott if you know someone with full DCS they can change the chuff rate in your engine(s). It will remain that way until changed.
