what is going on with mth repair service? I dropped off a diesal aa unit to be fixed back in May and still do not have it. This seems like a long time to me . What you guys think.

Sounds like a long time. Where did you drop it off? AT MTH or an authorized dealer?

Authorized dealer trains and things in Ewing nj they are re good
I bought an engine that was DOA in June. I sent it directly back to MTH and got it back in less than a month. Have you called anyone to see what is going on?
I suggest calling MTH directly. Personally, I wouldn't send something back through a dealer. Putting another person in the middle only delays things; not worth the few buck postage.
I trust tony at trains and things and when I dropped it off he told me mth where backed up and where going to take time to get back but I didn't think 6 months that's really long. But I am going to have to find out something at this point.
3 to 4 months depending on what is going on. If you dropped this off in May something is up if they have contacted you by now. I know a few May trains where completed back in August. G
Talked to mth today and they informed me they are still working on May stuff and would be at least 2 more months before getting my engine back
I quess I should of just changed the battery my self but I was lazy.
Is that all you sent it in for?
No that was a joke
It went in because all the marker lights went on it and I think it was more then a bulb because it happened all at one time on both the aa units
I hope it is not as simple as the marker light plug had wiggled loose from the socket.!
Darn! I was thinking I could set up a good post-post-retirement business changing batteries,
No I checked with new wires and there was a bigger problem some where
Dumb question I'm sure, but did you try a Feature reset?
RJR is correct. Anytime you add someone else to the mix, things do not always go right. If you send it to MTH, you have a better chance of getting it back quicker.
If both markers went out, a reset like Chuck stated would have fixed it or the correct soft key. That would have been in the book you received with the engine. If your dealer is an authorized dealer, he would know that. It seems to me like you are taking a shot at MTH without cause. When you talked to MTH, did you ask when they received it from your authorized dealer?
How about telling what the engine is. Was this a new engine or a flea bay queen?
got ya

I call MTH Technical Support about twice a year and they have always been able to resolve the issue on the phone. Only one time I had to send in a locomotive back to their service department. It was repaired with a new board and returned in about 15 days.
I also use my local hobby shop, for repairs while you wait.
I believe I talk to Diana and sometimes Jeff. 410-381-2580. MTH Tech Support.
The hours are M- F, Noon to 5:00 PM, but this may have changed.

This was a Penney F-2 aba unit both aa was something going on. I tried reset and resetting the tops but it was something else one engine had different lights out then other engine. I don't have time to mess with this crap any more so I sent it in. But I did call and they said they where far behind so all good when I get them back I get them back I will not be running durring winter anyway
Over the last 15 yrs I've sent in 3 engines. 2 were warranty, I got those back in 3 weeks. One was outside warranty. They told me 6 weeks and I got it back in 7. Sending back 2 engines out of 40 in 15 yrs for warranty is pretty darn good.
I've contacted Midge in parts 20-30 times for various issues, she treated me great and always found a way to get me the part I was looking for.
When outside warranty, I've contacted Marty or GGG for repairs and always got great service, at an outstanding price.
If you consider how many individual products MTH has sold over the years (the number has to astronomical) to expect them to service outside of warranty is pretty unfair. MTH would have to have a huge service center, the cost of such a center would be very prohibitive.
Just got my engines back and it had a board problem.

I am not sure what fet is but I am sure it's something to do with the lights
Jeff,
IMO the next time you have something you need fixed, contact George, GGG here in the OGR forum, I do believe he is authorized to due MTH warranty work, his knowledge and work are top shelf, (Guns) GunrunnerJohn also does great work, however I do not know if he is authorized to due MTH warranty work or not. Marty F also does great work and he maybe an authorized MTH repair center.

Do they have warranty after being fixed like mth does?
Yes, I do. G
