Before i pull my loco apart is there anything i need to clean or lube other than the few spots mth lists. Right now i have to have my gw180 at 18 volts and nudge the loco before i see movement. I here movement in the cab when powers applied. Also the is a manual switch on underside but manual dosent say anything about it. Ives std 3245r ac

The AC motor may need a drop of oil on the bearings.
Use Naphtha to clean off any dirt or oil on the wheels and track.
Call MTH for info on the switch. A guess would be to assign which way is forward when the loco starts up.

Switch disables e-unit. E-unit is sticky anyone have a good remedy
Get a can of spray contact cleaner and spray the entire e-unit mechanism to clean out any dirt, oil or grease. You can also get a can of Naphtha at your local hardware store and put some in a hand pump bottle and spray the e-unit that way. The Naphtha can also be used to degrease the entire loco, including the motor.

Will naphtha damage the paint finish?
Steve
No.
Naphtha is safe on most model paints, and does not attack the enamel insulation on motor windings the way alcohol does. That is why I use Naphtha for all my cleaning and degreasing as opposed to alcohol.
