With today's show a short 2 hours, we broke out the MTH DCS system and ran some trains that we hadn't operated before or it had a been a while. Including Brian's UP Challenger #3985. This is the PS2 version. Enjoy!

I agree, especially since your model is of the coal burning "in regular service" version.
Thanks guys. It was very cool to see in operation. I think it might be the inaugural running of the #3985, outside of back and forth on the rollers. Brian can chime in.
It really was like the prototype in that once the beast of a locomotive came to life, the railfans came running over to get a look! 
Here you can see some of the crowd rush over to catch a glimpse of the giant steam locomotive!
I saw that pic on Facebook yesterday.... that is OUTSTANDING! Fantastic weathering, I want mine to look just like that!

Yeah, we have some track work to upgrade as the last wheels on the tender went airborne a couple times which surely would have derailed any cars that were attached.

Thanks Matt! There are numerous spots that need fixing. Several of us used a foam based roadbed which is causing dips in spots as well as we need to solidify and level the track through the curves for a more reliable operation of a locomotive of this size.
