I 1st had an entire second level of monorail but it blocked the view of my yard so I got it back in size.

Nice Spence,
I have this set, I haven't set mine up since 2000.
Thanks
Alex
My son has the Disney World version of this. It is slow and squeaky. I really want to speed it up! I could not figure how to open them up. I would love to know how you sped it up and how you got it open!
Nicely done Spence

Nice set SPENCE!!! Where did you purchase this set? Did I miss the boat on this one?
Laz-1957; This was on Ebay a couple of years ago.
Goshawk; There was a fellow selling these remotely controlled. Forwards, backwards, & sound.
I'll post another video showing all that in a little while.
OK, I want one. That looks great.
Me too - now having an attack of basement layout envy.

I'll post another video showing all that in a little while. Makes me think, we have some small forward-reverse rc cars. I wonder...
That's awesome, Thanks!
I have two sets........stock they are just OK.
I do wish I had picked up the hotel......
Cool
Very cool.
The guy on eBay that Spence references does these upgrades somewhat regularly I think (I think he also might do this upgrade for the earlier type white with colored stripe type that is the Disney World model, but It's been a while since I looked.)
The stock version of Spence's set is available on the on-line Disney Store. It's not going to be as fast as Spence's video, but it does come with a simple infra-red remote (the Disney World version does not at this time, AFAIK).
The one Spence shows is now available in Orange, Red was the first color they released and may no longer be available (they do not let you choose color on the Disney Store site, but when I was last in DL last July I saw lots of Orange ones, but no Red)). I'm still hoping blue is not too far down the line to complete the offerings for Mark VII sets that run at Disneyland.

I wish I could find the Space Patrol Monorail train I had as a kid. Believe Marx made it.

You can still buy the hotel (assuming you mean The Contemporary shown in Spence's video)at the on-line Disney store. Polynesian and Grand Floridian are pretty much collectors items to the best of my knowledge.
(We'll ignore the coast mis-match that a DL monorail is going through a WDW hotel! ) - kidding!

If I can't get a SCALE track powered high end Disneyland Mk II monorail......I'll settle for this one.
As a kid I had a number of these Kenner Girder and Panel sets.....but never this one.
I have now collected a few mint sets....but yet again....this one eludes me!!

Amazing Spence! Now you need the Disney Characters to go with it.
They were available from Disney.
Cool. Is the monorail itself tinplate. It is mightly shiny.
I had one of those Girder and Panel sets when I was a kid, loved it!
Nice set, I have not seen one of those before. Looks like a neat addition for a layout.

Great job Spence ! Blends in real well with your layout.
Spence, thanks for taking the time to shoot and post the videos.

The monorail is plastic, but pretty high gloss.
